<p>The invention concerns a method of determining the presence or absence of corneal diseases in humans, and of determining the stage of a condition in human corneal tissue by determining an expression pattern of a corneal cell sample. Further, the invention relates to a method of determining the presence or absence of a corneal disease in human tissue, and of determining the stage of a corneal disease in human tissue, and also for reducing biological abnormalities of a cornea cell suffering from keratoconus. A method for producing antibodies against an expression product of a cell from corneal tissue is also described. The invention also discloses a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of a corneal disease comprising at least one antibody, and a vaccine for the prophylaxis or treatment of a corneal disease. Further the invention describes the use of a method for producing an assay for diagnosing a corneal disease in human tissue, the use of a peptide or a gene or a probe for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of a corneal disease in human tissue, and an assay for determining the presence or absence of a corneal disease in human tissue and for determining an expression pattern of a corneal disease cell.</p> |
