Amine derivatives (I) are used as bleach enhancers. Use of amine derivatives of formula (I) as bleach enhancers is new. R<1> = H, ammonium or an alkali(ne earth) metal atom; R<2>, R<3> = H, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C monohydroxyalkyl, 2-6C polyhydroxyalkyl, Cy, C(O) or OR; or NR<3> and/or SR<2> = an (un)saturated or aromatic 5-6 membered heterocyclic group which is optionally fused to an aromatic ring (especially a benzene ring) and which is optionally substituted; R = H, ammonium, an alkali(ne earth) metal atom, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C monohydroxyalkyl or 2-4C polyhydroxyalkyl; and Cy = a 4-8 membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic group which is saturated, unsaturated or aromatic and optionally substituted. At least one of R<1>, R<2> and R<3> is H.
