PURPOSE: Asymmetrically joined spinning reel foot and stem is provided, which solves such a problem that a user is difficult to accelerate the tip portion of a fishing rod, when casting the fishing rod. CONSTITUTION: The reel stem is connected to the reel foot at a point other than at its center. When the point of connection is nearer the rear of the rod, the net effect is to move the overall center of gravity of the rod/reel combination nearer the user's hand, i.e., toward the handle of the rod. Further, in the preferred arrangement, when the reel stem asymmetrically engages the reel foot the user will tend to put the stem between the index and middle fingers, thereby moving the hand grip position toward the tip of the reel and nearer the location of the center of gravity.
