PURPOSE: A method of manufacturing main element of graded-index plastic optical fiber is provided to simplify the manufacture of the graded-index plastic optical fiber while adjusting the refraction distribution precisely. CONSTITUTION: In the method of manufacturing main element of graded-index plastic optical fiber, raw material is inserted into a rotating tube for manufacturing the main element of the graded-index plastic optical fiber. A cladding part is formed having a uniform refraction distribution in the direction from the inside wall of the tube toward the corer after mixing. The raw material continues to be inserted into the tube to increase the refraction distribution. Thus the refraction distribution increases gradually in the direction from the wall to the core.
