The elevator has at least one opening side wall part aligned with safety doors on each floor when the elevator is correctly positioned. The side wall part(s) and safety doors have electrical locks connected to control circuits for activation or deactivation. The control circuits are combined so the side wall and safety door locks open when the cabin is in front of the relevant safety door. The controller blocks the cabin if the locks are open. The elevator has at least one side wall part (7,8) that can be opened that is aligned with safety doors (9) on each floor when the elevator is correctly positioned. The side wall part(s) and safety doors can be locked and a controller interrupts further movement of the elevator if one of the side wall parts or doors is open. The side wall part(s) and safety doors have electrical locks connected to control circuits (10,11) for activation or deactivation. The control circuits are combined so that the locking parts for the side wall and the safety door open when the elevator cabin (3) is in front of the relevant safety door. The cabin is blocked by the controller if the locks are open.
