The hinge system for the rear door of a commercial truck has a column (14) fitted to the bodywork and a section (18) secured to the door, which are coupled together by a linkage joint (16). The column (14) has ratchet pockets (24,25) at 90 deg and 180 deg , to be engaged by the pawl (23) of the linkage joint (16). A locking lever (35), at the door section (18) swings around a pivot pin (34), with a locking projection (36) to engage locking pockets (37,38) at the linkage joint (16) in the 180 deg and 270 deg door opening positions.
