USE OF STEROIDAL ALKALOIDS TO REVERSE MULTIDRUG RESISTANCE

The invention provides steroidal alkaloids for inhibiting or reversing multidrug resistance in cancer or in bacterial, fungal or parasitic infections. The steroidal alkaloid may be administered to the patient alone or in combination with an anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal or antiparasiti c agent. Examples of steroidal alkaloids include members of the solanidane or spirosolane e.g. tomatidine, families, and C-nor-D-homo steroid such as of t he jervane or veratramine families.
