PURPOSE: To provide a highly-productive female engaging member of a hook- and-loop fastener which can be manufactured continuously without an increase in facility cost, and which imparts sufficient bonding strength to pile yarn bonded to the surface of a planar base, although they are bonded in place by melting of the planar base, and provide a manufacturing device therefor. CONSTITUTION: A planar base 11 having a first and a second surface has interlacing yarn 14 buried by a quarter or more of their cross section into the upper surfaces of raised parts 11a formed on the first surface, so that the interlacing yarn 14 is fused and integrated therewith, the interlacing yarn 14 having a number of pile-like engaging elements 12 appearing on their surfaces. Because of the presence of the raised parts 11a, the interlacing yarn 14 can be strongly fused and integrated with the base 11 by the raised parts 11a of the planar base 11 irrespective of the thickness of the planar base 11. Alternatively, cover parts 11b for locally covering the interlacing yarn 14 with components of the planar base 11 may be formed in place of the raised parts 11a. |
