<p>The present invention provides a mandrel (101) that is axially adjustable in order to allow precise winding of a coil and axial movement of the coil during subsequent processing. The mandrel of the present invention includes a mandrel core (103) and two end flanges (111-113), a stationary flange and an adjustable flange. In addition, the present invention includes a predetermined force applied between the end flanges to provide controlled axial movement of the adjustable flange such that the coil height may change during processing. Thus, the mandrel of the present invention allows for symmetrical winding of the coil and axial movement of the coil on the mandrel core surface during processing.</p> |
