SHEAR WALL CONSTRUCTION

A shear wall construction and method for assembling the same is disclosed. A plywood sheet (20a) includes close laterally-spaced pairs of vertical studs or posts (22a, 24a) proximate each lateral end. A channel-defining member (40) is fitted and fixed between the spaced studs (22a, 24a). A tie member (42) extends from the channel-defining member (40) into a concrete foundation (21a) or other underlying building element. A track (34a) is also provided for sheathing a lower edge of the shear wall (12a). Protrusions from the metal track (34a) aid in anchoring the shear wall (12a) to the concrete foundation (21a).
