Determining the risk of a polychorial multiple pregnancy comprising detecting a C to T point mutation at position 677 of the 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene (I), is new. An Independent claim is also included for increasing the optimum conditions for implantation (in pregnancy) by (in)directly modulating folic acid metabolism by medical intervention.
