PURPOSE: A method for assigning a base station channel in an advanced mobile communication system is provided to receive information of a channel element assigned by an upper call process block, assign information to a plurality of boards included in the channel element, and compose and manage information. CONSTITUTION: A memory space is generated for storing a channel element assigning message transmitted from a call control processor of a base station controller, and a link list is composed for storing channel assigning information in the generated memory space in case that the channel is assigned. If the channel assigning message is received from the base station controller, the received channel assigning message is stored in the memory and channel information is extracted from the received channel assigning message for analyzing a sector ID of the channel element. It is searched whether an MUM(Multi-User Modulator) board of the analyzed sector is a normal state, and the channel is assigned in the searched MUM board and channel assigning information of the MUM board is updated. It is searched whether an MMD(Multi-Mode Demodulator) board of the analyzed sector is a normal state, and the channel is assigned in the searched MMD board and channel assigning information of the MMD board is updated(S14-S18). It is searched whether a CCD(Combiner and Channel Decoder) board of the analyzed sector is a normal state, and the channel is assigned in the searched CCD board and channel assigning information of the CCD board is updated(S19-S23). It is checked whether a channel element mapping table is completed, and if the channel element mapping table is completed, new channel information is stored in the composed link list and information of the channel element is transmitted to the assigned board.
