PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display(LCD) having an electrode on a barrier rib is provided to widen a visual angle and also to improve an aperture ratio. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display comprises a barrier rib(82) surrounding pixel cells four times and the first and the second electrode(84,86) formed on a facing surface of the barrier ribs faced in the pixel cell. The barrier rib is formed on a boundary part of the pixel cells in a grid form to surround the pixel cells indicating red, green and blue color respectively, with an insulating material so that the electrodes are not short electrically. The barrier rib is extended vertically between a front substrate(86) and a back substrate(94) where a black matrix(88) and a color filter(90) are formed. And, a liquid crystal is injected into a space surrounded by the barrier rib. The first and the second electrode are formed with a conducting material, and one of them is used as a common electrode, and another is used as a data electrode where video data is supplied.
