PURPOSE: An air flow direction control apparatus and method for controlling operation of the air flow direction control apparatus is provided to achieve an improved user convenience and maximized operating efficiency by adjusting angles of horizontal and vertical blades according to the remotely controlled concentrated cooling operation through a plurality of motors and motor driving units. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a control panel(40) attached to the front panel of the indoor unit so as to control operation of the indoor unit; a micro computer(41) electrically connected to a remote control input unit(10); a plurality of motors(51,52,61,62) operating in accordance with the control signal output from the micro computer; and a plurality of motor driving units(53,54,63,64) for swinging, through the rotational force from motors, a plurality of vertical blades(V1-V5) and horizontal blades(H1-H5) which are linked with each other in groups consisting of two or three blades.
