METHOD FOR ATTENUATING SEA WAVES FOR PREVENTING SAND LOSS AROUND UPRIGHT WAVE BREAK

PURPOSE: A method is provided to prevent erosion at the lower portion of the wave break by reducing wave energy through the protruded structure installed in a horizontal direction at the wave break. CONSTITUTION: A method is characterized in that a protruded structure is installed in a horizontal direction at an upright wave break in the position higher than the sea floor and lower than the sea level, in such a manner that the protruded structure has an angle of 60 to 90 degrees with respect to the upper portion of the wave break. The protruded structure allows sea waves to flow toward the open sea after the sea waves hit the wave break, thus preventing base of the wave break from being influenced by sea waves. As a consequence, useful life of the wave break is lengthened, while preventing coastal erosion.
