PURPOSE: A shock absorbing device reduces the vibration, which are generated due to the driving of a vehicle or the reciprocating motion of a body, of the vehicle or the body by controlling the moving speed of a piston in a cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing device comprises a cylinder(52), a piston(54), a seal member(56), a lower case(57) and an upper case(53). The upper case(53) is vertically reciprocatively formed to support the reciprocating motion of the piston(54). Thus, on absorbing vibration generated during the driving of a vehicle, by abrupt outside impact or from a body in reciprocating, a piston moving in a cylinder having wide middle portion and tapered both ends controls the flow rate of fluid in the cylinder, thereby relieving the impact and vibration.
