PURPOSE: A display range excess image display device of monitor and a method the same are provided to enable user to recognize abnormal image mode and re-establish normal image mode by dividing frequency of horizontal or vertical synchronous signal in case an image whose mode is not applied by monitor. CONSTITUTION: A micom(32) judges whether or not an image signal inputted in a PC(personal computer)(31) is in a display range of a monitor and outputs a control signal for transforming the image signal into an image signal displayable on the monitor if the inputted image signal exceeds the display range of the monitor in result of judgment. A deflection IC(integrated circuit)(35) deflects the image signal inputted in the PC(31) in accord with a horizontal or a vertical synchronous signal. A frequency dividing circuit(33,34) divides frequency of a horizontal or a vertical synchronous signal of the image signal inputted in PC(31) according to the control signal of the micom(32).
