PURPOSE: A piston is provided to prevent a generation of a blow-by gas and an infiltration of oil into a combustion chamber by improving the sticking property between a piston ring and a ring groove. CONSTITUTION: A first ring groove(4), a second ring groove(5) and a third ring groove(6) are formed in a piston(1). A first compression ring(7), a second compression ring(8) and an oil ring(9) are inserted in the ring grooves(4,5,6). The piston rings(7,8,9) are stuck to a wall of a cylinder(2). A second land space(B) between the first compression ring(7) and the second compression ring(8) is connected with a first chamber(10) through a passage(11). A third land space(12) between the second compression ring(8) and the oil ring(9) is connected with a second chamber(14) through a passage(13). The first and the second chambers(10,14) are connected through a passage(15). The second chamber(14) is connected with a crank chamber through a passage(16). An orifice(17) is formed in the passage(15).
