PURPOSE: A parking brake system for a vehicle removes noise generated by the collision of the gears of a ratchet and the adhering surface of a pole, thereby enlarging the differences of the heights of gears. CONSTITUTION: A lever is pulled up for parking while an adhering surface(24a) of a pole(24) is always adhered to gears(16a) of a ratchet(16). Accordingly, a noise absorbing member(40) is formerly hit by the adhering surface(24a) when the adhering surface(24a) of the pole(24) is hitting the gears(16a), thereby damping noise generated by the hitting. Thus, by the simple noise damping structure, the manufacturing cost and work of a parking brake system are reduced.
