PURPOSE: A roll shell minimized in heat distortion and heat stress by improving heat conductivity, yield strength and tensile strength and toughness and reducing a linear expansion coefficient is provided, which has excellent thermal impact resistance. CONSTITUTION: This roll shell contains 0.25 to 0.45% by weight of C, 0.15 to 0.40% by weight of Si, 0.20 to 0.50% by weight of Mn, below 0.020% by weight of P, below 0.020% by weight of S, 0.10 to 0.40% by weight of Ni, 2.35 to 2.83% by weight of Cr, 0.70 to 1.10% by weight of Mo, 0.10 to 0.30% by weight of V and the remainder being Fe and impurities.
