PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for compensating errors in an amplification stage of an intermediate frequency filter are provided which compensates errors generated due to characteristics of components or constructive characteristics at the amplification stage of the intermediate frequency filter of a spectrum analyzer, to allow the filter to operate with reliability and stability. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for compensating errors in an amplification stage of an intermediate frequency filter includes a controller(10) for controlling the entire apparatus and calculating an error compensating value, and an intermediate frequency filter(60) for analyzing the frequency of an input signal and amplifying a signal sent from a receiver(70). The apparatus further has a spectrum analyzer(20) for storing the error compensating value, and a signal generator(30) for generating a signal with a predetermined frequency to send the signal to the intermediate frequency filter.
