[Also in Division C1] Conversion of hydrocarbons is effected in the presence of a carrier and a catalytically active metal, the carrier being a porous glass produced from a non-homogeneous extractable glass by treatment with mineral acid, the glass being a SiO 2 -B 2 O 3 -Na 2 O glass. In examples (1) n-hexane is dehydrocyclized to benzene at 500‹ C. and atmospheric pressure (2) a similar process is used to make toluene from n-heptane (3) cyclohexane is dehydrogenated to yield benzene (4) toluene is hydrodealkylated to benzene and (5) benzene is condensed to yield naphthalene. |
