The bubble separator consists of a filter system (1-15) connected to the bubble collector (11) above the filter and fitted out with a level indicator. The indicator has a collector (11) vent whose outlet (15) is joined to the general return tank. The latent bubble volume is recorded by means of a sharp flow edge just upstream of the filter system. The filter comprises a housing (1) and filter element (2) set flowed at other than 90 deg and a connection (3) arranged for the fuel orientated to surround the filter element (2) and preferably below the filter. The filter itself consists of a hollow cylinder with filtration casing with axis at an acute angle to the perpendicular. Above the filter element is a collector (11) formed by an expansion of the filter surround area.
