PURPOSE: A method for converting a vocoding mode of a wireless local loop is provided to improve the sound quality of audio service by converting a vocoding mode into an ADPCM mode and automatically changing connecting speed according to the amount of compressed data. CONSTITUTION: A vocoder(4) stores telephone office numbers in telephone numbers of a plurality of servers supplying audio service(S101). It is judged whether a user inputs a telephone number via a telephone(S102). If inputs, the input telephone number is detected in the vocoder(S103). The detected telephone number is compared with the stored telephone office numbers(S104). It is judged whether the equal telephone number exists(S105). If not exist, a vocoding mode of the vocoder is converted into an LD-CEL mode or a CS-CELP mode for compressing and restoring speech data(S107). If exists, the vocoding mode of the vocoder is converted into an ADPCM(Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) mode and connecting speed is changed into 32Kbps accordingly(S106).
