PURPOSE: A connecting rod for hermetic compressor is provided, in which the connecting rod body has reinforcement ribs arranged at both ends of the body, to thereby allow the connecting rod to operate without being deformed. CONSTITUTION: A connecting rod(20) comprises a crank shaft connection section(25) connected to the rotating crank shaft, and which is formed integrally with a connecting rod body(22); a piston connection section(27) formed integrally with the connecting rod body, and which is connected to a piston so as to allow the piston to reciprocate in linear fashion; and the connecting rod body for connecting the crank shaft connection section and the piston connection section; and a reinforcement rib(28) arranged at both ends of the connecting rod body in lengthwise direction of the connecting rod body so as to increase rigidity of the connecting rod body.
