LOCATION TRACE SERVICE METHOD USING TDOA

PURPOSE: A location trace service method using a TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival) is provided to exactly trace the location of a mobile terminal using a TDOA value dependent on a propagation delay in a radio communication system. CONSTITUTION: If a service request for the location trace of an MS(Mobile Station) is generated(601), a system to provide a location trace service using a TDOA executes a function to maintain the synchronization between the MS and a BTS(602). The system calculates a GDOP(Geographical Dilution Of Precision) for each BTS with the BTS, of which the synchronization is being maintained, in the center(603). The system compares the calculated GDOP values(604) and selects a BTS set maintaining the lowest GDOP value(605,606). For the selected BTS set, the system extracts time information using a multi-DLL(Delay Lock Loop) in each BTS(607). The system calculates a TDOA using extracted time information(608) and determines the location of the MS through a location determination algorithm(608,609). Finally the system displays the determined location of the MS(611).
