PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display(LCD) and a fabrication method thereof are provided to reduce the number of masks used, and to improve a production yield of a product. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode and a gate line are formed on a substrate(1). An active layer and a short-preventing part(120) are formed by depositing and patterning a gate insulation film and a semiconductor layer on the gate electrode and the gate line. And, a source and a drain electrode(116) are formed and a channel(CH) is formed. The active layer is formed by stacking an intrinsic amorphous silicon and an extrinsic amorphous silicon. A protection film(136) is formed on the source and the drain electrode and the etch-preventing part and the substrate, and a negative photo resist is formed on the protection film. The protection film is patterned using the negative photo resist and a pixel electrode pattern mask. And, a pixel electrode(118) is formed and is contacted with the drain electrode directly without a drain contact hole, and thus a direct contact resistance is reduced. |
