PURPOSE: An automatic exposure device of an image sensor is provided to control an exposure time period of pixels by outputting a corresponding exposure time assigned by an address output from a luminance state analyzing element to the image sensor, thereby reducing the hardware burden for the exposure time control. CONSTITUTION: An automatic exposure device of an image sensor includes a first counting element(210) for counting a number of pixels outputting image data exceeding a predetermined luminance by a frame unit from image data received from the image sensor(10), a second counting element(220) for counting a number of pixels outputting image data lacking the predetermined luminance by the frame unit from the image data received from the image sensor, a storing element(240) for storing an optimum exposure time period according to a grade of screen luminance, and a luminance state analyzing element(230) for determining brightness of a screen in response to the pixel numbers output from the first and the second counting element and outputting a selected grade of the screen luminance to an address of the storing element.
