PURPOSE: A frictional clutch type continuously variable transmission reduces the manufacturing cost thereof and has continuously variable performance without any operation of a clutch pedal by using a frictional clutch. CONSTITUTION: A frictional clutch type continuously variable transmission comprises a frictional type clutch(50), a clutch operating mechanism(55), a continuously variable mechanism(70), a shift mechanism(75), a reverse shift mechanism(80) and an ECU(electronic control unit). The transmission automatically operates a clutch and varies driving force by perceiving the shift operation of a driver, the speed of a vehicle, etc. Further, the manufacturing cost of the transmission is reduced and the transmission has continuously variable performance without any operation of a clutch pedal.
