PURPOSE: To shorten the working time, and to improve the rate of operation of a device by inserting a spacer in the shorter side of works before the working position in machining a plurality of stacked works across the spacer, to simultaneously install the works at the working position and insert the spacer. CONSTITUTION: Works W1, W2, W3 are supplied in a stacked manner on a table 218 so as to be brought into contact with a stopper 219 and a moving plate 221, a claw 616 is positioned at the position opposite to the position between the work W3 and the work W2 by an air cylinder 612, a moving plate 603 is moved to the left, the claw 616 is inserted between the work W3 and the work W2, and the claw 616 is elevated by the air cylinder 611. A rear end side of the work W2 is lifted, and at the same time, pads 228, 229 are elevated by the air cylinder, one end of a lower spacer 222 on the works W1-W3 side is elevated to the specified height, a table X is moved, and a free end of the spacer 222 is inserted in a gap between the work W3 and the work W2.
