PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dioxolane derivative and its salt exhibiting strong squalene synthetase inhibiting action and useful as a drug for the prevention and/or treatment of hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipemia and arteriosclerosis. SOLUTION: This dioxolane derivative and its salt are expressed by formula (1) [A1 and A2 are each a bivalent hydrocarbon group; A3 is single bond or a bivalent hydrocarbon group; a1 and a2 are each O or N(A4); Q1 and Q2 are each a cyclic hydrocarbon group or a heteroaromatic group; Q3 is H, OH, an alkyl, an alkoxyl, cyano, a heterocyclic group, carbamoyl, an acylcarbamoyl or a carboxyl; and R1 and R2 are each an alkyl or form a carbonyl group or an aliphatic ring together with C atom bonding to R1 and R2].
