PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-opacifying water based paint composition for finishing an object to be painted in novel designing and texture different from the conventional ones by making the most of the tone of the object to be finished in finishing the object such as a constuction and unnoticeably finishing a portion to be repaired such as a broken portion by making the most of the texture of the object to be painted and the like. SOLUTION: The semi-opacifying water based paint composition has a contrast ratio of the 150μm-thick paint film obtained by painting it on an object to be painted of 0.10-0.80. The composition comprises a synthetic resin emulsion and a filler, and an acrylic synthetic resin or the like is preferably used as the synthetic resin emulsion. The filler preferably has an average particle diameter of 5-100μm, and calcium carbonate and plastic beads are suitable.
