[Also in Division C3] Polymer particles having a pigment adhering to their surfaces are made by mixing dry particles of polystyrene, rubber-containing polystyrene-acrylonitrile copolymer or rubber-containing styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer and which have a particle size of 20-100 U.S. Standard Sieve with one another and with the dry pigment in a rotary blade mixer at a top speed of at least 200 in/sec. The pigment may be carbon black, titanium dioxide, a Cd S. Cd Se. BaSO 4 red, a Cd S. BaSO 4 yellow, ultramarine blue or phthalocyanine green. The polymer particles may consist of beads and may comprise styrene graft polymerised with polybutadiene or SBR rubber; styrene/acrylonitrile graft polymerised with polybutadiene or GRS rubber. |
