PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy metal ion scavenger excellent in the ion-removing capability of conventional one. SOLUTION: The organic polymer material comprises a polymer side chain that is derived from a halogenated alkyl substituted styrene on the main chain of the organic polymer base and a functional group forming a complex with a heavy metal ion on the polymer side chain. The organic polymer material has excellent removing capability of a heavy metal ion and can be used as a suitable heavy metal ion scavenger.
