PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum foil for an electrolytic capacitor electrode, with which superior electrostatic, capacity is obtained by suppressing a groove pit from forming, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: In an aluminum foil for an electrolytic capacitor the purity thereof is 99.99 wt.% or more, and the residual part is unavoidable impurities. In the composition of this aluminum foil, HCl is 0.75 mol/l, and H2SO4 is 3.0 mol/l. When an electric current is applied with 30 A/dm2 of current density in electrolytic solution at 80±1 deg.C with an silver chloride electrode as the standard electrode, the time before showing an electric potential of -500 mV or higher, immediately after the start of the current application, is 25-40 ms.
