PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for managing the re-selection of an initiator by a target on an SCSI bus. SOLUTION: A target tries to secure the control of a bus for a first re- selection cycle for re-selecting an initiator. When the target fails to secure the control of the bus for the first re-selection cycle, and the target is selected by the initiator for the selection cycle, the target processes the selection cycle. In parallel with the processing of the selection cycle, just after the bus is substantially released, and before the processing of the selection cycle is completed by the target, the target tries to secure the control of the bus for a second re-selection cycle for re-selecting the initiator.
