PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel display device which exerts a sufficiently high luminance and allows little deterioration in its luminance by using a phosphor emitting visible lights through ultraviolet excitation. SOLUTION: A globular particle having a small particle size which is obtained through hydrothermal synthesis method and inhibits the generation of oxygen defects, is used as a phosphor particle composing the phosphor layers 110R, 110G and 110B which emit red, green and blue, respectively, in PDP 100.
