PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the printing interval of an identification number in response to the slip of a printing roll of a color code for an optical fiber cord, with the purpose of preventing a positional relation from shifting between the identification number and the color code, in the case where fiber numbers and color codes are used in combination to facilitate the identification work of fiber numbers of optical fiber cords. SOLUTION: In a method of printing identification information of an optical fiber cord 1, on the surface of which a color code 3 and an identification number 2 are printed by a printing roll 10 and a printer respectively at a prescribed interval, the revolution speed of the printing roll 10 is measured, with a comparison made between the peripheral velocity V of the printing roll and the linear velocity v of the optical fiber cord, and with delay calculated of the peripheral velocity V with respect to the linear velocity v, so that the printing timing of the identification number 2 is delayed by a delay signal corresponding to the delay of the peripheral velocity of the printing roll with respect to the linear velocity of the fiber cord.
