PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a device to be successfully operated even when one CPU is broken down for some reason in a digital copy printer with a CPU exclusive for a copier function and a CPU exclusive for a printer function. SOLUTION: Image data from a printing job are mingled with image data from a copying job, for example, from a digital scanner in this digital copying printer. When the printer function of the copying printer is broken down, a timer starts and different restoration procedures are executed according to whether a fault is for a short time or a long time.
