PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure printing plate making method which is applicable to a roll which is used for the first time not requiring polishing and a roll which needs to be polished for reuse. SOLUTION: Procedures such as image engraving/cell formation, cleaning, application of laser ablation coat, formation of laser ablation/resist image, formation of cells by corrosion and chrome plating are carried out using an electronic engraving machine. When the roll is recycled, its precise grinding ranging from removal of plate by grinding to mirror polishing is fully automated. For the remaining image part excluding a solid printed part not including characters and a gradation, cells are formed by engraving. For the solid printed part not including characters and a gradation, the cells are formed by etching. Consequently, free-flowing type cells are obtained which are formed of characters consisting of a character contour part constituted of continuous cells and a part, surrounded by the character contour part, which is constituted of dotlike cells, and the intermittent crossing part of the darkest shadow part corresponding to the solid printed part. |
