PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of performing a new/old decision on a processing cartridge, and also easily deciding the replacing time of the cartridge. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, a rib 78 of a detecting member 77 is inserted in a spiral groove 76 of an encoder 70, and ribs 79a and 79b are respectively engaged with slots 84a and 84b disposed on the encoder cover 81. In this constitution, the encoder 70 is rotated, the detecting member 77 is also shifted upward when the rib 78 is shifted upward. Interruption by the detecting member 77 interrupting light axis of the initiation time of photo-sensor 83 is avoided, and the toner set C2 is decided as old. Then, the encoder 70 is provided with opening ports 74 at specified intervals, driving is confirmed by detecting the opening ports 74 by a specific period by the photo-sensor 83, and shortage of the toner is detected by instability in the detection signal of the photo-sensor 83. |
