PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and inexpensively decomposing organic matter in an organic matter-containing aqueous solution with ozone under alkalinity. SOLUTION: The organic matter in the organic matter-containing aqueous solution is decomposed with ozone under presence of an alkaline earth metal compound, in a decomposition method of the organic substance in the organic matter-containing aqueous solution with ozone.
