PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the efficient and accurate hands-off processing in a mobile communication system. SOLUTION: The mobile station position measurement method in a mobile communication system includes a 1st step, where the pilot channel signal strength of both active set and adjacent set of base stations at a prescribed place in each base station sector is measured, when the base station makes a request to a mobile station to transmit the pilot channel signal strength or on the occurrence of hands-off, a 2nd step where the pilot channel strength measurement mobile station is transmitted to the case station, a 3rd step where the pilot strength measurement message is compared sequentially with the pilot channel signal strength in a prescribed area covered by the active set and the adjacent set of the case stations that are stored in a database, and a 4-th step, where the position of the mobile station is measured in response to the result of comparison obtained by the 3rd step.
