PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact image pickup device for road monitoring, that can simultaneously acquire a visible image and an infrared ray image with less noise. SOLUTION: An image pickup element 2, consisting of the arrangement of intermingled visible light-receiving element 3 and infrared ray light-receiving element 4, receives an image light passing through a window 1 and applies photoelectric conversion to the light, amplifier sections 9a, 9b and correction sections 10a, 10b corresponding to each light-receiving element amplify the electrical signals of the visible light and the infrared ray and correct for the luminance and provided separately outputs of the visible image signal and the infrared ray image signal at the same time.
