Method consists in mixing liquid thermosetting resin as carbon-forming substance with catalyst precursor, solidifying carbon- forming substance if necessary, carbonizing carbon-forming substance, and activating carbon with deposited catalyst. Activated carbon with homogeneously distributed catalyst can be in the form of a supported coating, as powder, or as one-piece article and incorporates electrodes for passing current through its bed.
