PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversing device and method simultaneously reversing and piling a plurality of plate materials with a sleeper interposed therein responding to the various plate materials of different thickness. SOLUTION: This reversing device is provided with a reversing table 20 including an approximately horizontal mount 21 carrying, at least, two segments 1, which are so erected that the respective plate faces 2, 3 are parallel opposed to each other at some intervals, and an approximately vertical receiver base supporting the external plate face 2 of the segment 1 carried in the end; and a drive device 40 rotationally moving the reversing table 20 so that the mount 21 and the receiver are positioned approximately vertically and horizontally respectively. A sleeper holder 32 for detachably holding the sleeper 5 interposed in the interval between the segments 1 is provided movably in the parallel direction of the segments 1.
