PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television signal recording and reproducing device, that can reproduce data information at any time, in matching with video and audio contents. SOLUTION: The television signal recording and reproducing device is provided with a tuner, a decoder that decodes video/audio signals and data transmitted within the same frequency band, a storage device that stores a data output, while separating it into an index (table of contents) and a data main body, a write controller that controls writing of the storage device, a read controller that controls the storage device to output data at any time, and a changeover switch that selects a read output from the storage device or the video signal. The television signal recording and reproducing device sequentially records transmitted data, and a viewer selects the recorded data at any time, according to the index to display contents of the data.
