PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-excited reluctance motor capable of driving a motor with a simple commutator without the need for assist of the commutation logic of a power electronic circuit. SOLUTION: An A-phase, a B-phase, and a C-phase switching parts 110a, 110b, 110c are formed on the outer peripheral surface of a commutator main body 106 so as to be spaced at a prescribed angle in a circumferential direction for keeping their mutual phases apart at a fixed interval. When a pair of A- phase switching parts at opposite positions come into contact with an A-phase switching brush, a stator pole 102 is excited and the commutator main body (106) rotates so that a rotor pole 104 nearest to the stator pole 102 may meet the stator pole 102. Almost at the same time when the contact of the A-phase is off, the stator pole 102 of a B-phase is excited, thereby rotating the commutator main body 106 continuously.
