PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor relay capable of preventing thermal trouble caused by ambient temperature conditions by the relay itself. SOLUTION: The semiconductor relay having a semiconductor switch 2, an overheat detecting means 9 and a cutting-off means 10 for cutting off the semiconductor switch 2 under the control of output from the overheat detecting means 9, is provided with an ambient temperature detecting means 14, an input cutting-off means 16 and a control means 15. The ambient temperature detecting means 14 detects that the ambient temperature is lower than a prescribed temperature. The input cutting-off means 16 cuts off the input signal of the semiconductor switch element 2. When the output of the overheat detecting means 9 is inputted twice at least and the output of the ambient temperature detecting means 14 is inputted, the control means 15 outputs a control signal for controlling cutting-off of the input cutting-off means 16.
