PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf elevating device capable of easily drawing out/ returning a shelf, preventing the shelf from descending by its own weight when drawing out of the shelf is suspended on the way, and securing the safety in a furniture piece to be set at a high position allowing various articles to be stored or taken out. SOLUTION: A fixing frame 5 with a rotation shaft pivotally supported between a pair of side panels is disposed inside a furniture piece to be set at a high position. The lines of first and second pantographarms 11 and 13 connecting each axial fulcrums of side panels of the fixing frame and a shelf frame 7 are in the shape of parallelogram, and are pivotally supported rotatably. A first elastic member, one end of which is hooked to the fixing frame and the other end to the pantographarms to receive the weight of the shelf frame, is mounted in the rotation axis of the fixing frame. A second elastic member, normally braking the rotation of the rotation axis with the elasticity, is also attached, and the rotation of the rotation axis is possible by changing the elasticity of the second elastic member by a brake releasing means.
